On Friday morning, just before Easter, quickly packed our luggage, took my camera and tripod and left for the small and pretty village, called Tzerovec – located on approximately 40 km north-east from Russe.
Local people say that the name of the village comes from the word ‘Tzer’ meaning “white oak”, which grows in the countryside.
Situated on two hills, this is one of the smallest villages in the region of Russe with a population of 65 people /according to the National Census hold this year /2011/ and excluding the tourists and the owners of summer houses/.
People are very proud of their village because of the clean air and the 3 natural fountains, one of which, they believe, is with mineral water.
If you want to spend a few peaceful days, without mobile phones and internet access, this is your place. If happen to be there, in order to use your mobile phone you should try to connect from the top of the hill.
You can go in Tzerovec by car or by bus from Russe.
There is a bus company serving the line from Russe to Tzerovec once a day. The bus departs at 15.00 o’clock from Russe central bus station and returns on the next morning at 7.40 from Tzerovetz.
If you go by car you will be able to visit some of the attractions in the region of Russe: The Rock- Hewn Churches of Ivanovo; Besarbovo Rock Monastery; the Medieval Fortress of Cherven
And now look through my lens:
